A Slenderman Musical

Johnathon Jacobsen A slenderman musical with tinges of Lovecraft, southern rock, and the Illuminati, perfectly balancing wackiness, disgust, and existential terror, all rendered in Shapera's inimitable style. What more could you ask for? Favorite track: Zoe & Timothy 3.
Josh Ervin

Josh Ervin It starts really strongly and carries on throughout! Another one of Shapera's great musicals. My only gripe is with the ending, it doesn't mesh with established Slenderverse lore. But it's still pretty good. I'd love to see it made into a proper series. If i could get some people together i might even give it a go myself! Favorite track: Possession.
Jimmy Hastings

Jimmy Hastings This album uses horror tropes and the musical medium to tell a story ultimately about isolation and connection. The story is touching, engaging, and at times funny, the music is well-written, and the vocals are spot-on. Those who know his work will see his telltale storytelling style throughout, but he goes to some pretty disturbing places with this one that neither he nor anyone else I've heard has before. Favorite track: Possession.

TickertapeRain As always, Paul's music creates the perfect atmosphere and mood for the story, delivered by a cast of singers who play their varied roles perfectly. The story (a deliciously twisted tale) has many subtle and thought-provoking details, with repeat listens revealing more every time, and each of the three acts has its own unique feel and energy. The download includes a PDF with the lyrics and some other goodies. Another fantastic album which I'll listen to for a long time to come.

Thank yous go out to Christopher Webster, Paul Longhurst, and strawberryLochrian for being this project's feedback loops.

Thanks to Ben Below for recording Rachel Hughes and thanks to Dave Toole for recording Tiffany Williams. Thanks to Matthew Broyles for recording Jeff Simms as well as the myriad of other hats he wears.

You should check out Matthew Broyles and Jeff Simms on this album Memphis: thematthewshow.bandcamp.com/album/memphis. Seriously, i love this album.

Thanks once again to Kevin Hulburt. When you've got a gaping plot hole that needs filled, one phone call usually does the trick. This is hardly the first project he's helped me bounce idea off of and it's unlikely to be the last.

While we're at it, thanks also to Andy Ricker for that conversation he and Kevin had at Cafe Lemont where they basically just told me how T & Z 4 needed to play out. And for that matter let's just thank Katy Bell Ricker because she's awesome and should have an album thanking her. And of course thanks to Michael Beck because on top of other things, he's always the first face i see in Happy Valley.

Thanks to Shaun Rolly for scrambling to help when i needed it.

Paul Shapera New York, New York

These days the teddy bear picnic is a rather somber affair. They mostly just sit together in silence. The beings who had taken these guises had over time lost all recollection of their origins, purpose, or selves. They only know they are someplace foreign, cut off from whatever homeland they once had, utterly alone in an incomprehensible world. Some picnics they listen to Paul Shapera. ... more
