And so most nights she stops by
the Motel 6 where i'm holed up
we sit out front in two plastic chairs
that face the parking lot

the nights pass kind of pleasant
we drink some beer and smoke a pack
we talk bout where the hunted go
and when the run runs out at last

I lost my way to El Dorado
The winds my will has weathered down
I sometimes think that on the dusty road to nowhere
I’ll sit and sigh and lay my body down

The golden future where i belonged
Is there a moment, a day a week you know that
The destination you once dreamed is gone?

that promised land in which i once believed
