lyrics

Samuel:
For my mother, my sister, and for you, Jordan

Sing with me child as the day grows long and stardust fills your eyes
Sing with me child of the love enver lost, your mother’s lullabye

There’s langue it’s speaking, some terrible tongue
In this creature’s cries
I’ll crack its cant and peel its prose
Know what it says in time

I shall not rest, to see this creature up close, its skin, its marks..
(spoken: “Has someone been whipping this creature? Seriouslly, has someone been lashing this thing. This look like whip marks…”)

Sing with me child as the day grows long and stardust fills your eyes
Sing with me child of the love enver lost, your mother’s lullabye

Back a long bit, i was a child exorcist

Get back devil, won’t you get back down
Get back to the glory of the lord
Get down devil won’t you get down and out
Get back to the glory of the lord

I drove out the devil for the glory of the lord,
witness for the glory of the lord
At ten years old they’d come from miles around to see me
driving out the devil for the glory of the lord

Get back devil, won’t you get back down…

My mother was afflicted how the demons they would come
every few months and they’d take over her mind
I’d say “get out you devil!” all night long and she would cry
And i’d bring her back again into the light

Get back devil, won’t you get back down…

The demons kept returning to my mother i must tell
I was left to raise my sister by myself
Pastor Ken he warned me that the females of my blood
Were marked and plagued by satan there himself

“Get out you devil”, to my mama oh i cried
A witness for the glory of the lord
On stage the crowds adored me but night after night i sat
With my sister while my mama wept some more

Get back devil, won’t you get back down…

Adolescence changes us from the children who we were
I started seeing different aspects of the world
Mental illness was the struggle that mother had and well,
All the screaming, prancing i had done was not a help

She took her life one day never once aware
Of any type of treatment, medication, doctor’s care
I quite the church, i went to school and studied there
Neuroscience, embarked upon a well acclaimed career

But at career’s cusp my sister she fell ill
Same affliction as my mother and i used all my skill
To diagnose, to find a cure for what she had
But all my skill revealed that in fact, she was not mad

It was a demon that did plague my sister’s mind
Just like the pastor said, it hunted down my female line
So back to church and on to seminary too
A different set of skills to learn to see the long fight through

Get back devil, won’t you get back down
Get back to the glory of the lord
Get down devil won’t you get down and out
Get back to the glory of the lord

The Holy Sacred Order Of The Bleeding Rose i joined
Which hunts these horrors all across the land
They taught me of the veil that leads beyond the world
And the Abbey and the dusk on which it stands

And when my sister took her life
And nothing else was left for me in the world any more
I offered to come over
To help the Abbey run
This place of no return who breaks all who come

about

Paul Shapera Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania

Cama’s attempt to commune with higher beings failed; she only found Decadent Dottie. Together they roamed, indulging in dangerous forms of psycho-neural self-exploration which Cama hoped would present the key to her people’s further evolution. It only led to her destroying her people so that one of their pets could evolve. She sat in her former civilization's rubble and listened to Paul Shapera. ... more
