The little meme decided it would be safer it she was above the street, and so she climbed and climbed, higher and higher up a tall high rise. She could see inside all the lit windows, all the strange lives of the people within. She was still climbing when the sun set and darkness fell.

In the center of a small apartment was a girl sitting in a large chair. Wires and tubes ran in and out of her arms and the helmet on her head. She sat lifelessly, head limp, staring out into someplace that was not here. She was the most beautiful thing the meme had ever seen and the meme worked her way into the apartment so she could be near her.

The little meme sat watching the girl for days. A few times a day the girl unplugged for a short time, but mostly sat in her trance. Over time the meme grew bolder and moved closer, finally climbing onto her lap. The girl would sometimes even absentmindedly pet the little meme, unaware of what she was even doing, lost in a distance cyber reality.
